Fleiss’ neighbors have been successful in Hollywood as well: they are David Charvet, a former “Baywatch” actor, and his wife, Brooke Burke-Charvet, the former hostess of the series “Dancing with the Stars.” However, the relationship between these neighboring celebrities has soured quickly.

Apparently, Fleiss was annoying the couple by playing recordings of barking dogs into the wee hours of the night, and ensuring that his speakers were pointed at their home so that they would hear the dogs clearly. He was also accused of physically threatening Charvet and his wife. Why the dogs barking on a speaker? Apparently, Charvet and his wife have dogs that enjoy barking quite a bit.

The neighbors tried to get a restraining order against Fleiss, but were unsuccessful. However, now that Fleiss has been charged, it is more likely that a restraining order will be granted.

According to California law, disturbing the peace entails “any person who maliciously and willfully disturbs another person by loud and unreasonable noise,” which includes unlawfully fighting or challenging another person in public, or using “offensive words in a public place which are inherently likely to provoke an immediate violent reaction.”
