Royal Couple Takes Legal Action Against Photographer

Summary: A photographer who was supposedly following Prince George, the infant son of Prince William and Duchess Kate, caused the royal couple such concern that they have taken legal action.

ABC News reports that Prince William and Duchess Kate have initiated legal proceedings against a paparazzo that they claim is “harassing” their infant son, Prince George, as well as his nanny.

According to a statement issued by Buckingham Palace, the royal couple had their last straw last week. “The individual was spotted at a central London Park in the vicinity of Prince George, who was removed from the Park immediately. There is reason to suspect that the individual may [have] been placing Prince George under surveillance and monitoring his daily routines for a period of time.”

The incident, which would upset any parent, “prompted Their Royal Highnesses to seek reasonable assurances from the individual about his behavior.”

The Palace added, “The Duke and Duchess understand the particular public role that Prince George will one day inherit but while he is young, he must be permitted to lead as ordinary a life as possible. No parent would tolerate the suspicion of someone pursuing and harassing their child and [caregiver] whilst their child is playing in a public park or going about their daily activities.”

Prince George is the first child of the royal couple, and the first grandchild for Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.

Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, Prince George’s nanny, was announced in March. Borrallo attended Norland College, which is a nanny training college in Bath, England. It is considered one of the best in the world. In April, Borrallo tagged along on a trip to Australia and New Zealand with the royal family, which was their first family trip overseas since Prince George was born on July 22.

Duchess Kate, who is pregnant with the royal couple’s second child, currently suffers from hyperemesis gravidarum, which is a rare, extreme form of morning sickness. The illness has forced Duchess Kate to cancel public events.
