EmployAttorney-Jobs-in-NYC

In-house employment attorneys are witnessing a better time than many. It is interesting to note that now employment attorneys are not only sought for their expertise in dealing with employment practices of a business, but also for essentially non-legal positions like workplace advisors and human resource consultants. In-house employment attorney jobs in New York City are resurging, owing to increased worker litigation and complex labor laws.

Experts say that one of the main reasons why companies, both big and small, seek in-house attorneys is the ever-increasing number of lawsuits filed by workers each year. In order to avoid becoming involved in such expensive and time-consuming litigation companies hire employment attorneys to ensure compliance of labor laws. Employment counsel often serve a dual purpose, they not only defend the company’s interests, but they also protect rights of employees.

Once an attorney goes in-house he or she becomes an employee for all purposes, but still has to follow rules of professional conduct and ethics. The prime responsibility of an in-house employment counsel is to preempt problems and provide preventive measures ensuring many problems are solved even before they occur. Thus, it is the job of an in-house counsel handling employment issues to ensure that the company puts in place workplace practices that are in conformity with local, state and federal employment rulings.

Not only are in-house positions for employment counsel challenging, but they also pay well. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in 2013 such attorneys earned a median annual wage of $114,300.

With labor laws increasing in complexity every day, job prospects for in-house counsel practicing employment law remain bright. Companies prefer to hire in-house attorneys with at least two to three years of private practice or in-house experience. Further the individual needs to know how to align business with legal decisions and adopt a commercial approach to problem solving.

The added charm of working in New York is getting to live in one of the world’s greatest cities. Working here has a glamorous element to it, and even though there is some truth in New York being a very expensive city, the fact remains that if you are judicious in fulfilling your needs and change your buying habits, you will realize that the city can make for very comfortable yet affordable living.

Adding up all positives, the buzz and dynamism of New York, its economic importance, its glamor quotient and that fact that you’ll have a lucrative career with great prospects for promotion, it can be said quite conclusively that in-house employment attorney jobs in New York are worth every bit of your time and effort.
