Casey Kasem, who was the voice of Shaggy in the cartoon “Scooby-Doo” and an announcer for NBC, as well as hosted radio music countdown shows “American Top 40” and “Casey’s Top 40” for decades, according to a report by CNN Entertainment News, was spotted in Washington State. Casey Kasem left a nursing home and authorities say they found Casey and his wife visiting with others at a home.  The couple told deputies that they were on vacation.
A Sheriff’s department spokesman, Scott Wilson, told the affiliate that according to a story by CNN News, after determining Casey Kasem was not in distress and was receiving the appropriate care, the deputies left the home. An investigation was ordered on Monday, May 12, into the radio personality’s whereabouts after he was, according to Yahoo News,  reportedly taken out from the Berkley East Convalescent Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif., without warning.
Casey Kasem’s daughter Kerri Kasem said in a statement Wednesday night according to CNN Radio that, “We are grateful to local authorities for finding my Dad. We are one step closer to bringing him home.” The daughter, Kerri Kasem’s, representative reported in the statement that the family still has “grave concerns about his medical care.”
Kerri Kasem said that her father was suffering from Parkinson’s disease in October 2013 and a few months later, she said that Casey Kasem was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia, which is often difficult to differentiate from Parkinson’s. Due to his condition, he is no longer able to speak. Kerri Kasem was granted temporary conservatorship of her father’s healthcare this week according to Yahoo News.
The statement included that Casey Kasem’s exact location in Washington “is still being determined.” According to CNN Entertainment News, Kitsap County authorities have not released the address where they found Casey Kasem, and that his exact location is still unclear.
