Chris Gavin Leaves Mayer Brown to Join Perkins Coie

Law firm Perkins Coie is announced that Chris Gavin left Mayer Brown to join the firm’s New York office as a partner in the Financial Transactions & Restructuring group.  Gavin is the second partner to join the New York office this year (Paul Cohen joined the firm in March).

Gavin’s practice focuses on U.S. and international structured finance transactions in which he represents issuers, borrowers, sellers, buyers, lenders, official lenders, hedge funds, private equity funds and other investors.

Gavin was named a Leading Lawyer by IFLR1000 (2013), a Leading Lawyer for Structured Finance/Securitization and Capital Markets by IFLR (2012) and a Rising Star in New York by Super Lawyers (2011).  He is also a member of the American Securitization Forum (ASF), the securitization industry’s unifying forum.

In addition, Gavin has significant experience securitizing and financing many other types of assets and projects including auto loans and leases, commercial mortgage loans, home equity lines of credit, franchise loans, life insurance policy loans, mortgage servicing rights, toll road projects, forward sale commodity contracts, lower and middle income residential projects and payroll deduction loans.

Gavin earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, Order of the Coif, with a Dean’s Scholarship.  He was on the Editorial Board and served as a research and writing Assistant with DePaul University Law Review.  He received his B.A. from the University of Iowa.
