Locke Lord Re-Elects Jerry Clements as Chair
Jerry Clements, who has headed Locke Lord LLP since 2006, has been reelected chairwoman of the law firm. As leader of the law firm, Clements had overseen the 2007 merger between Texas-based Locke Liddell & Sapp, and Chicago-based Lord, Bissell & Brook. She was also instrumental in expanding the firm’s international presence with offices in London and Hong Kong.
Other leaders re-elected include Vice Chairs Daniel Schlessinger and Bill Swanstrom. Tom Yoxall was also re-elected and Sarah Linton elected to the 10-member Executive Committee of the firm. The present leadership of the firm, spearheaded by Clements is credited with driving Locke Lord to become a Top 100 AmLaw firm and become recognized by the industry in various practice areas.
Schlessinger is the former Managing Partner and Chairman of Lord, Bissell & Brook. He was first elected Vice Chair of Locke Lord in 2012. He has more than 30 years of experience in business litigation.
Swanstrom, based in Houston, was first elected Vice Chair in 2011. He is also the Co-Chair of the Firm’s Energy Practice Group and has more than 25 years of experience in working with energy companies. Linton is based in London and is the head of the UK Employment Practice.
Clements is one of those few women to successfully lead a large law firm. She has been named one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women Lawyers by the National Law Journal; as one of 30 Extraordinary Women in Texas Law by Texas Lawyer and one of Texas’ Most Powerful Women by the Texas Diversity Council. Clements is also a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Member of the Baylor University Board of Regents. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
