The small Minneapolis law firm of Mackall, Crounse & Moore, established in 1918 is merging with larger Milwaukee law firm DeWitt Ross & Stevens and changing its name to DeWitt Mackall Crounse & Moore. However, DeWitt Ross & Stevens will continue to operate under their original name and brand.
MacKall, Crounse & Moore is a 26-lawyer firm with annual revenue about $9 million, while DeWitt Ross & Stevens has annual revenue of about $38 million and employs 81 attorneys.
Bradley Raaths, who works from the Madison office of DeWitt Ross & Stevens will be now managing the Minneapolis operation.
Twin Cities Business reported that the merger was hailed as a combination rather than an acquisition of the smaller firm by the larger one.
The change of name or change of status is still not evident on the website of Mackall, Crounse & Moore, and neither of the law firms has yet reported the news on their websites.

However, tcbmag.com or Twin Cities Business reported that they had contacted concerned people and the news was confirmed. Commercial litigator Tim Moratzka, who has worked 20 years with Mackall Crounse & Moore told the publication that the firm has worked with DeWitt on a number of things for over a decade and found compatible cultures shared across their establishments.
Moratzka told Twin Cities Business, “we’ve traded management experience for quite some time … We think alike in client service and we think alike in keeping costs of legal services manageable and the results effective.â€
