Polls On Government Shutdown Blame Republicans Most
Various polls put out be news sources suggest that Americans are unhappy with how Republicans have handled the government shutdown. According to an international poll put out by CNN/ORC, released Monday, 46 percent of respondents blamed congressional Republicans, with only 36 percent blaming Obama, and 13 percent blaming both. The GOP are being blamed for acting like “Spoiled children,” by 69 percent, with 58 percent thinking the same of Democrats, and 49 of Obama. 60 percent reject the GOP’s tactic to use shutdown to make changes to the Affordable Care Act.
A similar poll put out by Washington Post-ABC news found corresponding figures, with only 26 percent approving of how Republicans have handed the budget negotiations, 34 percent approving Democrat’s handling, and 41 percent approving Obama’s handling. Meanwhile, 27 percent disapprove of all three.
The overall sentiment seems to suggest that the Republicans hardlined approach isn’t appreciated, and this may bode poorly for Republicans in future elections. With only 19 percent of Republicans staunchly behind their leaders, compared to 40 percent of Democrats strongly behind Obama, this might suggest that Republicans have their work cut out for them in trying to triumph in future elections. All of them are cutting it to the last minute in figuring how to handle the government’s financial difficulties.
