Reed Brodsky, the NY prosecutor famous for leading the insider trading prosecution of former Goldman Sachs director Rajat Gupta is joining the law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher as a partner. He also helped to convict Raj Rajaratnam on insider trading charges last year. Brodsky is expected to beef up Gibson Dunn’s white-collar defense and general litigation reported Reuters.
Gibson Dunn is well known for recruiting top lawyers with experience of working under the federal government. One of such star litigators include former United States Solicitor General Theodore Olson. With the addition of Brodsky, the number of former Justice Department lawyers at Gibson Dunn would reach forty one.
Earlier this month, Assistant United States Attorney Daniel Chung left government service to join as a counsel at the law firm’s Washington D.C. office. Brodsky would be joining the New York office.
According to Reuters, the official date for Brodsky joining Gibson Dunn is yet unknown and the law firm is expected to make an announcement within this week.
Reed Brodsky worked for the Special Investigative Committees of the Board of Directors for both Enron and WorldCom before joining the Southern District of New York as an Assistant United States Attorney. Daniel Chung, who joined Gibson Dunn earlier this month, had also worked in the same office.
Reed Brodsky primarily investigated and prosecuted securities fraud cases and cases related to market manipulation, investment advisor fraud, and insider trading. To date, Reed has prosecuted over 40 individuals for illegal insider trading.
He has served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the last eight years.
