On Monday night, Cooley Law School played host to Henry Rollins and his 50-state ‘Capitalism’ tour. Rollins used to be a punk rocker but now works as a successful author and speaker. Rollins spoke to the crowd for close to three hours without taking any breaks. He not only showed plenty of love for Lansing for also for Detroit and its musical history. He spoke of the Jackson Five, Ted Nugent and John Lee Hooker during his event.

Rollins, 51, delivered an incredibly popular line during his speech that was about Nugent. He said that he attended a Nugent concert years ago when Nugent “was still winded from dodging the draft.”
When discussing Detroit, Rollins seemed to take a jab at the city when he talked about traveling to countries that have been declared dangerous. He said that residents of Michigan would understand and could relate to his comment when he said, “Walk around naked with a 20 dollar bill in Detroit; you know what I’m talking about.”
It seemed as though he was talking about how crime can occur absolutely anywhere, especially if a person is placed into a difficult position. The event was held at the Cooley Temple Conference Center at Thomas Cooley Law School.
