Mao Sugiyama, an artist who cooked and served his own genitals, is facing two years in prison. Sugiyama served his genitals to a group of cannibals who paid to attend the dinner. Mao is from Tokyo and has been charged with indecent exposure two months after his dinner. Only five people paid to attend at $250 apiece.
Mao and three others who helped organize the event are facing charges, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Mao took part in elective genital-removal surgery before he turned 22 because he is a self-described ‘asexual.’ His penis, scrotal skin and testicles were cut up and then garnished with mushrooms and parsley.

According to a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police Department said that Mao and three others conspired to “openly display the severed male genitals to the assembled 71 guests” on May 13 at a music club. Mao claims that he tried to follow the laws for bans on organ sales, processing medical waste and sanitation requirements for food. He said that the dinner’s goal was to raise awareness for “sexual minorities, x-gender, asexual people.”
Mao is facing no more than two years in jail and a fine of around $32,000. In Japan, indecent exposure is explained as displaying obscene objects.
