A court date for December 6 was scheduled on Tuesday by a U.S. judge so a permanent injunction request can be heard. The request was made by Apple Inc. against Samsung Electronics and its smartphones. On Monday, Apple made note of the eight devices from Samsung that it will file preliminary injunctions against and then file a permanent sales ban against.
On September 20, the preliminary injunctions will be heard. Prior to that date, the hearing could be included with the court date scheduled for December 6. U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh said in an order Tuesday that because of Apple’s large preliminary injunction request, she felt it ‘appropriate’ for multiple post-trial motions being put into one day.
During the hearing on September 20, the request from Samsung to dissolve a sales ban against the Galaxy Tab 10.1 from Apple will be heard. Samsung has been sided with by the jury in this segment of the case. Last week, Apple was rewarded with $1.05 billion in damages when a jury from the United States determined that Samsung copied features of the iPhone and iPad in its devices.
The hearing on December 6 will be held after attorneys for both parties file the proper legal arguments in the case.
