According to TMZ, citing anonymous law enforcement sources, Lindsay Lohan, age 26, was named a suspect in a $100,000 jewelry theft at a late August 2012 Hollywood Hills party at the mansion of millionaire Sam Magid.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman told NYDailyNews.com that detectives in the jewelry case had not yet named a prime suspect. Lohan and her assistant spent the night at Magid’s after the party. The host said he woke up to discover $100,000 worth of watches and designer sunglasses missing. He recanted his report, but police continued with the investigation.
According to Fox News, Lohan faced prior theft accusations in 2008 and 2010. In 2008, she was accused by a model of stealing her mink coat from a coat pile at a party. In 2010, Lohan was suspected of stealing a $35,000 Rolex watch. These events eventually cleared up as misunderstandings, and she was not charged.
The jewelry theft news follows an investigation of a June 2012 car accident where the Santa Monica Police Department seeks to question Lohan about possible lies she told the police. Her car smashed into an 18-wheeler on the Pacific Coast Highway, and Lohan reported to police at the scene that she was a passenger, and her assistant was driving when it occurred. The assistant contradicted Lohan’s story. Lohan could face a year behind bars for lying to the police. The case will be referred to prosecutors and the L.A. City Attorney.
If she lied to police about the car accident or gets convicted in the jewelry theft, Lohan will violate her probation.

According to CNN, in March 2012, a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge officially removed Lohan from probation from two 2007 drunken driving convictions, but she remained on informal probation for two more years on a 2011 misdemeanor shoplifting conviction. She pleaded no contest in 2011 to stealing a $2,500 diamond necklace from a Los Angeles boutique, and was sentenced to 120 days in jail and informal probation until May 2014.
Lohan began her career as a child fashion model at age three. She made her motion picture debut at age 11 in Disney’s 1998 remake of The Parent Trap. She went on to star in two Disney TV movies, Life-Size in 2000 and Get a Clue in 2002. With Mean Girls in 2004, she became a household name with several MTV Movie Awards and Teen Choice Awards.
Lohan spent much of 2010 and 2011 in legal troubles. When her supervised probation was lifted earlier this year, Lohan did some television work, including starring as Elizabeth Taylor in the TV-movie biography Liz & Dick.
