I'm from Texas and I think he should be immediately fired. He just gave other criminals he has handed a verdit to the upper hand to have their convictions possibly overturned. They had a similar problem in Crystal City Texas with a few officers a few years ago. They were fired immediately. So was another judge in Texas caught under somewhat similar circumstance.

Legalize it! It's obvious that this judge was not harming anyone by possessing marijuana, and it should be his choice if he wants to relax by smoking a joint. It's the same right Americans have as we do to drink a beer, except you can't overdose on pot, and instead of acting belligerent and violent if you've had too much, you're more likely to order a pizza and watch some shows about space on the Discovery Channel.

We need to treat marijuana more like wine in order to raise revenue for the state. Instead of using billions of dollars every year fighting the "war on drugs," we should use all the money on education! If weed was sold in liquor stores or special marijuana dispensaries, then only responsible adults would be able to access it, and stores would lose their license if they sell to kids. Dealers on the street (that have the ability to entice kids into trying harder drugs) don't check ID! Plus, it will take away the opportunity for profit from drug cartels in Latin America and other gangsters/criminals within the United States, and the local police can concentrate on solving real crime like kidnappings, rapes, and murders, instead of a judge chilling out in a hotel room.

Throw in the possibilities of medical benefits for people suffering from chronic disorders, and you have a no-brainer! We are halting scientific progress by not allowing the plant to be studied more. End prohibition of marijuana and return some respect for the law.

Resigning over cannabis? That's a joke. He should pay his fine and go about his life.
