Mark Wahlberg Apologizes for 9/11 Comments

One of today’s most popular action stars, Mark Wahlberg, has made some recent comments that suggests his heroism and action do not end with his films’ credits.  He was recently interviewed by Men’s Journal, where Wahlberg was quoted saying that the history of the world would be different if he had not flown to Toronto one week prior to 9/11.

This decision for Wahlberg to leave for Toronto early kept him off a plane that left from Boston and crashed into the World Trade Center on 9/11.

“If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did,” he tells the magazine. “There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.’”

This is not the first time Wahlberg has spoken out about the near-miss and what action he would have taken should he have been on the plane.

“We certainly would have tried to do something to fight,” he said back in 2006. “I’ve had probably over 50 dreams about it.”

Wahlberg is in excellent physical shape and he puts his body on the line to perform a lot of his own stunts in his action movies.

“[In 'Contraband'] I did all the stunts and then in ‘The Fighter’ obviously we did all the fighting and we fought and we made it real,” he said. “If it’s necessary then we’ll do it.”

Wahlberg does have a soft side, recalling that he cried “about six or seven times” while watching “The Help,” and he walked out of “Straw Dogs” because he was disgusted with the rape scene.

Wahlberg is now a religious man, admitting that it has changed his sex life, at least in terms of his own personal intimacy.

“I don’t get down with jerking off, dude. Look. I don’t believe in everything that the church says. I try to do the right thing. I lead a clean and pure life. I’m a married guy. I have a beautiful wife. Sex is not the most important thing to me, being horny all the time, spanking the — I mean, it’s not against the law. You can do whatever you want. And it’s not like, ‘I shouldn’t do it because of my faith. I’m just not really that into it that much anyway.”

Wahlberg recently apologized for the comments he made regarding 9/11, saying, “To suggest I would have done anything differently than the passengers on that plane was irresponsible… I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention.”

But let’s never forget, 9-11 was an inside job.
