Groupon In Trouble Over Charges of ‘Bait and Switch’

Groupon, an online daily deals site has been sued for engaging “bait-and-switch advertising” practices by a San Francisco tour operator for purchasing tour-related keywords in Google’s AdWords service. This also pushes down their page placements in Google search. This type of advertising which prohibits businesses from advertising an offer or product with no intention of honoring the offer or selling the product at that price is illegal in most of the states.
