Major Bi-Coastal IP Merger Won’t Happen

HandshakeSan Francisco IP firm Townsend & Townsend & Crew has broken off merger talks with Atlanta’s Kilpatric Stockton, says the San Francisco Business Times.  Client conflicts found between the two firms have been cited.

Had the merger went down, a new 700 plus firm specializing in patent application, trademark and copyright practice would have been created with a nationwide network of offices.

Recently, many smaller IP firms with a limited geographical presence, such as Townsend, have either seen their lawyers disbanding for the prospect of larger firms or have gone the merger route.  Stay tuned to see on which side of the coin Townsend comes up.
