Real estate attorney Mark Katz has been named the new chairman for Arent Fox. He takes over for Marc Fleischaker, who held the position for 14 years before recently stepping down.
Katz, whose appointment became effective on March 1, earned unanimous approval from the firm’s executive committee.
Katz’s practice focuses on commercial real estate matters, joint ventures, transactional work and finance, including distressed real estate an investing. His clients include Whitehall Street Real Estate Funds, sponsored by Goldman Sachs, Marathon Real Estate Company Funds, and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays Major League Baseball club. He previously served as co-chair of Arent Fox’s business department.
As for Fleischaker, he will remain at Arent Fox to practice law full time and will continue to serve on the firm’s executive committee. He was also named Chair Emeritus of Arent Fox in honor of his successful tenure as chairman, according to a firm press release.
“Arent Fox is a wonderful place to practice law,” Fleischaker said. “It has been a privilege to serve as chair of our executive committee and I look forward to supporting mark in his new role. This transition will be seamless.”
Arent Fox has 350 attorneys with offices in Washington D.C., Los Angeles and New York.
