Former Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau has joined the law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. The 90 year old Morgenthau said he has long admired Wachtell and its impact on the law and legal profession. Morgenthau served as District Attorney in Manhattan for 35 years. Cyrus Vance Jr. was elected to replace Morgenthau and took office on January 1. Morgenthau has also served as United States attorney for the Southern District of New York.
The firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz was founded in New York City in 1965. It has 217 attorneys and focuses on mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, takeovers and takeover defense, corporate and securities laws and corporate governance and restructuring.
