Faces, Home, Law Firms

Melinda Katz, a democrat on New York’s city council, has said she will be joining Greenberg Traurig when her current term is up on December 31. Katz has also served in the New York Assembly, and narrowly lost a bid for Chuck Schumer’s seat in the US House of Representatives when Schumer ran for the Senate. She will join Greenberg’s government relations practice.

State law prohibits her from lobbying on any issues she worked on in the Council, where she is currently Chair of the Committee on Land Use.

She plans to stay involved in Democratic politics, and has not ruled out another bid for public office.

Greenberg Traurig LLP is an international, full-service law firm with more than 1,800 attorneys and governmental affairs professionals in the US, Europe and Asia.
