Rumor: King & Spalding Turning Associates into Staff Attorneys [Update]

A JDJournal tipster informs us that Atlanta’s King & Spalding, which laid off 37 lawyers and 85 staff in March, is “converting a significant number of associates to staff attorneys.”

King & Spalding was founded in Atlanta in 1885. Its clients include Georgia blue chip companies, from Coca-Cola and Home Depot to SunTrust, as well as General Motors and Ernst & Young. It has 13 offices, including locations in Dubai and Frankfurt.

UPDATE

A JDJournal tipster tells is that 50 associates are to be converted to staff attorneys.
