Howrey is in advanced talks to acquire troubled intellectual property firm Day Casebeer.
Founded in 1998, Cupertino, California’s Day Casebeer Madrid & Batchelder is an intellectual property boutique with 27 lawyers.
The firm has been rocked by a discovery scandal in a patent case between client Qualcomm, and Broadcom. Five Day Casebeer lawyers were sanctioned in 2008 after Qualcomm failed to turn over crucial documents in discovery.
The acquisition of Day Casebeer will give Howrey 115 lawyers in San Francisco and Palo Alto.
Howrey LLP was founded as Howrey, Simon, Baker, & Murchison in 1956, and was the first national anti-trust law firm. It has more than 700 attorneys in 17 locations worldwide.
