Wragge Seeking Merger

Wragge Top Birmingham, UK law firm Wragge, which just announced a redundancy consultation targeting 85 and a salary freeze, happened to mention to the press that it is interested a merger.

The firm wants to increase its London footprint through a merger. It told the Birmingham Post it “was not actively pursuing a merger, but was open to the possibility.” Which is a weird thing to say. If you’re broadcasting your intentions through the news media, then you are “actively pursuing.”

Wragge’s profits were down 15% from last year, to £104.3 million ($172.6 million).

Birmingham, UK’s Wragge & Co was founded in 1834 by George Paulson Wragge hand Clement Ingleby. The firm has offices in Brussels, Guangzhou, London and Munich.
