Gardere Wynne Sewell, which laid off an undisclosed number of attorneys and staff in March, has cut salaries for incoming new associates from $160,000 to $145,000.

Second years will have their salaries cut to $150,000.

The firm says its clients have complained that new associates were overpaid.

Based in Dallas, Texas, Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP employs nearly 300 attorneys with offices in Austin, Houston, Washington DC, and Mexico City.
