Law firm Ropes & Gray’s cameo in the new movie “Bride Wars” proves that Boston’s burgeoning movie industry can have a down side…

Although a fictitious law firm name is mentioned in the movie, it appears that [Kate] Hudson plays a Ropes & Gray associate… Hudson’s character, who is angry that her wedding plans conflict with those of a character played by actress Anne Hathaway, has a meltdown scene at her law firm. The scene was filmed outside Ropes’ New York office.

Ropes & Gray spokesman John D. Tuerck said that while the firm did not plan for the brief flash of the Ropes & Gray nameplate, the firm is taking it in stride.

Although the story implies that some people are bothered by the cameo, no such person is quoted in the story.
